Phew. It's been a week or so since I've felt like I even had time to write a new LJ entry, let alone had the proper access to do sp. I guess I could've done something from work, but it felt a bit inappropriate considering all the OTHER stuff I have going on right now. Suffice to say the new job is really excellent, and I love the people I work with. Everyone has been extremely nice, and the place has a really interesting feel to it. People seem happy to be at work, to be doing what they love, and everyone assumes that everyone else there feels the same. I guess that's part of the experience there. Not to mention that it seems like folks just assume you know what you're doing, because why else would you be there I guess, but that's not an assumption I've run into elsewhere. That's a good feeling for sure.
I'm going apartment hunting in a few weeks, the people I talked to said that with my price range and requirements I should be fine anywhere in the Eastside area, which is awesome. Basically I want a 1-2br with W/D in unit and bus access. Suffice to say property is a LOT cheaper here than it is in Boston (or Chicago). I get some of my stuff tomorrow, which is nice. Computer and DVDs and gamecube and so on, all the critical stuff which I felt I would need in temporary housing. Of course I forgot to send additional clothing, so next weekend I'm going to just go out and buy some (...sigh).
Other than that I'm just settling in. Meredith and I are flying to Chicago in a few weeks to see my family for a long weekend, that should be fun. I'm really looking forward to seeing all my friends in the Chicago area again too. I wanted to go to a Cubs game while in town, but of course the fuckers are on the road the whole time I'm there. Grumble. Oh well, maybe I can visit again later in the year. I still think we're going to a Padres game at Fatcon (at least I hope so) so there will be some baseball for me there, and maybe I can sucker someone into going to a Mariners game with me. Basketball should be over soon too, which means a return to the normal Law & Order schedule on TNT and another few months of not hearing about that lame-ass sport. Also, Football season is coming up in like.. three months or so. Thank god. Baseball is great, but the baseball+football combo cannot be beaten.
I guess there's not too much else to ramble about. So far this move has gone extremely well for me. I haven't hit any glitches or had any other problems, I'm really thrilled about that. I've been looking out for something to go wrong or explode this whole time, and other than some little glitches documented elsewhere here, everything has been perfect. I'm moved, I'm happy, I'm looking forward to a nice long stay here. I guess I can relax a little and enjoy a new life.
